Dr. Ayala was born in El Salvador, but was raised in Queens, New York. He graduated from medical school at San Carlos university of Guatemala, with 2 years residency training in eye surgery in El Salvador. He moved back to New York and graduated Pediatrics residency training at Brooklyn Jewish Hospital. After this, he moved to Lansing, MI and graduated from MSU Neonatal training (sick and premature newborns). Later, he moved to Battle Creek in July 1990, where he has been practicing pediatrics at Northside Pediatrics ever since. His special interests include children with special needs, ex-premature graduates and ADHD. He has even been a regional and national speaker for pharmaceutical companies to help physicians understand the proper use and protocols for ADHD treatment.

Anita is a Board-Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with a focus in primary care. With 30 years of experience in the medical profession as a registered nurse, she has worked in the areas of cardio-pulmonary and emergency room services. She also has 8 years of public health experience working in Calhoun County public schools providing health and wellness education, emergency treatment along with the management of chronic illness.
In 2012, she completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Ferries State University. She later continued her education at Ferris State University completing her Masters of Science in Nursing specializing in nursing education. In 2017, she completed an internship with Dr. Ayala, and graduated from Vanderbilt University with her Post Masters leading to her board certification with the PNCB. Currently, she is pursuing her Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree at Ferris State University.
Her special interests include immunizations, the treatment of asthma, and adolescent health. Married for 39 years, she has 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren. Her hobbies include; yoga, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. Anita is proud to be a member of the Northside team and is looking forward to serving its families.
